This is a small area north of Willow, tucked into the side of the Willow West neighborhood, between Cleveland and Oakwood, with the only entrance on Willow. (See map below.)

The Woodlands is a beautiful neighborhood with a variety of homes and unbelievable amount of trees - hence the name "Woodlands."

History

Larry McClure, builder, developed Woodlands, I believe in the 50's and 60's. It was the most remote development, and the most "wooded". He had bought the entire "farm", planning to develop it, and Woodlands was phase 1. Bulldozer operators were eager to get the job clearing out the trees for the development... leaving the trees and building around them was unheard of! Mr. McClure had a vision!

I became aware of it as a teenager in the 60's...my best friend lived at Woodlands. Mr. McClure allowed the residents to keep horses on the surrounding land, now Willow West. We were in heaven, galloping about "Willow West" daily.

He developed Willow West in stages, and eventually created Willow Lake.
